Beril & Marin’s Wedding Story

From the moment they met at an event organised by mutual friends, their connection felt natural and undeniable. She, a Turkish citizen, and he, a Romanian citizen who had already built his life and career in Germany for more than five years, quickly realised that what began as a chance encounter was turning into something much deeper. From that day on, they chose to face life together, despite the many challenges that stood in their way.

Their journey was far from simple. As a non-EU citizen in a relationship with an EU citizen living in Germany, they experienced firsthand how difficult and emotionally exhausting international bureaucracy can be. For over a year and a half, they endured long waiting periods, visa applications, and countless trips back and forth while trying to build a shared future in the same country. At times, the uncertainty and endless administrative obstacles almost made them lose hope, but neither of them was willing to give up on their relationship.

Determined to find another way forward, they began exploring alternative options and eventually decided to pursue marriage in Denmark.
