Danyelis & Dustin

Our most special trip yet

I first met Danyelis in November 2022 while she was visiting the United States on a tourist visa to see her aunt, who happens to be a good friend of mine. From the moment we met, we knew there was something special between us. We spent as much time together as possible during her visit, but when she had to return to Venezuela, we faced uncertainty. Her 10-year US visa was set to expire in early 2023, and with no US embassy in Venezuela, renewing it could take years.

By then, we were already falling for each other and wanted to spend more time together, so we started meeting in different countries. Over the past year, we’ve shared four incredible trips:

  • July 2023 – Our first trip was to San Andrés, Colombia. It was my first time traveling outside the US, and it was an amazing experience.
  • December 2023 – We explored Rome, Italy, visiting famous landmarks, enjoying incredible Italian food, and taking a day trip to Pisa and Florence to see the Leaning Tower and the Statue of David.
  • April 2024 – We spent four days in Brussels, Belgium, and five days in Paris, France, wandering the streets, sightseeing, and admiring the Eiffel Tower.
  • December 2024 – Our most special trip yet: we travelled to Denmark to get married and then honeymooned in Iceland.

Our future plans

Now that we’re married, our next step is applying for a US K-3 spousal visa so we can finally begin our life together in the United States and have our happy ending.

Shared Hobbies

Danyelis has always loved traveling, and now it has become my new favourite hobby too. Before meeting her, I had never been outside the US, but since then, I’ve visited six different countries – Colombia, Italy, Belgium, France, Denmark, and Iceland – all thanks to her adventurous spirit.

Getting Married in Denmark

The entire wedding process in Denmark was unbelievably easy, and everyone we met was incredibly kind and helpful. Our hotel was just a short walk from City Hall, and on the way to our ceremony, we were congratulated by so many friendly strangers – it was a beautiful experience.

Our Time in Denmark

We were only in Denmark for a few days, but we made the most of it. We stayed close to City Hall, explored the Christmas markets, did some shopping, and enjoyed delicious local food while walking the charming streets of Copenhagen.

What Stood Out About the Wedding Venue

The ceremony room at Copenhagen City Hall was breath-taking. The stunning wall paintings and beautiful architecture made it feel truly special – it was the perfect place to say, “I do.”

Memorable Experiences

We loved staying at ProfilHotels Copenhagen Plaza, an older-style hotel with a 110-year-old (but completely safe!) elevator. Its location was ideal, just a short walk from City Hall, making everything incredibly convenient. We also had a great meal at Warpigs, an American BBQ restaurant that reminded me of home.

What Surprised Us About Denmark

The honesty and kindness of the people stood out the most. Everyone was so welcoming and genuinely happy to be around.

Advice for Other International Couples

When researching where to get married, I considered several different countries, but now that everything is said and done, I’m so glad we chose Copenhagen. The city has such a romantic atmosphere, and Copenhagen City Hall is truly stunning. If you’re considering getting married abroad, Denmark is an excellent choice – the process is smooth, the people are welcoming, and the city itself is full of charm.
