February: Copenhagen Light Festival

This event transforms the city with dazzling light designs, creating a magical and unique wedding experience. For several years Copenhagen Light Festival has been creating innovative aesthetics in Copenhagen's urban spaces and presenting works by Danish and international artists and designers. Your ceremony will take place during the light festival next to a specially selected light installation.

April - August: The Balcony of The Royal Theatre - The Old Stage

Get married on the balcony of The Royal Theatre, celebrating the history of H.C. Andersen. This venue offers a touch of Danish cultural history, perfect for an enchanting fairytale wedding.

Your ceremony will take place on the poet's birthday and will be performed by our registrar who will act as the world-famous author. April - October: The Copenhagen City Hall Garden

Copenhagen City Hall’s garden might just be the most secret in the city! Here you can have an intimate wedding ceremony in green surroundings, between the beautiful red murals, perfect for those seeking a blend of city and nature. The garden’s serene environment and picturesque setting make it a beautiful spot for your vows, with the idyllic sound of water flowing from the Bear Fountain in the distance.

April - The Citadel

Fancy having your ceremony in historic and scenic surroundings by The Citadel in its green spring coat? Here, you can exchange your vows surrounded by giant oak trees, and the famous old red gates, whilst you watch the swans swimming in the serene moat.

Your ceremony will take place in the southern part of The Citadel, close to the statue commemorating fallen soldiers. Afterwards, it is entirely up to you what the day will bring. There are many green areas for you to have a romantic picnic, or if you would prefer something a little more special, there are many restaurants to choose from in the Østerbro district, and of course the many Michelin Star restaurants.

May - June: The Amalie Gardens 

For a city-centre wedding with a touch of nature, the Amalie Gardens provide splendid views of the Royal Palace and the harbour. This open-air venue combines the best of Copenhagen’s urban and natural beauty.

Summer Months: The King’s Garden

A summer wedding in the 400-year-old King's Garden Park, founded by King Christian IV, is perfect for a ceremony with a historical backdrop. Exchange vows under the pergola with views of Rosenborg Castle’s Renaissance towers. 

The many old trees provide countless shaded spots in the garden - making it ideal for a small celebration with your closest friends and family after the ceremony. The park is enjoyed by more than three million visitors every year and is one of the capital’s most popular places to ‘hang out’ and enjoy the sun on the neatly beautiful green lawns.

 

Summer Months: The Royal Library Garden

The Royal Library Garden is a hidden oasis among the historic buildings on Slotsholmen island in the city centre.

Here you can say ’I do’ at a small and intimate wedding ceremony in the shade of old trees, between flowerbeds and with the sounds from the little fountain in the background. The garden was established in 1920, and here you can also find a statue of the famous Danish philosopher Søren Kierkegaard, staring sorrowfully into the distance - Some say that it was right in this location that his lost love, Regine Olsen, lived in the Danish Golden Ages.

July/August: The Schooner Halmø

Experience a unique maritime wedding aboard the Schooner Halmø. This historic vessel offers a romantic setting at sea from Admiral Kaj, complete with bubbles and cake, as you sail along the coast of Copenhagen. Your ceremony will take place on the deck, and together you will share this day with other select couples, who also choose to get married on board this utterly incredible vessel.

The beautiful and rustic wooden schooner was built in 1900 and measures 32 meters, it is quite frankly incredible. Denmark is synonymous with Vikings, boats and the Nordic lifestyle, so have a true Danish elopement.

The Royal Pavilions at Nordre Tolbod 

Marry by the harbour at Nordre Tolbod, surrounded by historic buildings and the ocean’s romantic charm. Nordre Toldbod is part of Copenhagen's port facility and has through the years been the reception place for royalty and heads of state. 

It was also here that the famous Danish sculptor and artist Bertel Thorvaldsen was received when he returned to Copenhagen in 1838 after his long journey to Italy. This location, steeped in history and culture, is an ideal start to your life together.

August: Copenhagen Pride Week

Whilst the party during Copenhagen Pride Week takes place in the streets of Copenhagen, you now have the opportunity to enjoy the parade and fun and also say "I do " in a memorable wedding ceremony on the bridge in Ørstedsparken late in the afternoon, surrounded by the vibrant atmosphere of the parade and festivities.

After the wedding ceremony, there is plenty of opportunity to celebrate your day - both on the park's beautiful lawns or elsewhere in Copenhagen.

Summer and Winter Dates: The Royal Danish Opera - Summer and Winter Dates

Exchange vows outside the iconic Royal Danish Opera House, with views of the Copenhagen skyline. This venue is perfect for lovers of music and culture.

The Opera House in Copenhagen was inaugurated in 2005 and is located on the historical axis running from the Marble Church through Amalienborg Palace, to the Amalie Garden on the other side of the harbour. The new Carlsberg Glyptotek was founded by brewer Carl Jacobsen (1842-1914) and opened to the public in 1897.
